Make sure coffee decanters or coffee pots used at serving stations are cleaned every day. Dispose of coffee filter and coffee grounds immediately after coffee brewing to prevent drip-thru of unwanted flavors trapped in used coffee grounds. Clean your coffee maker or other brewing equipment regularly (especially the sprayhead area) -- at least once a week.
There are many ways to hold and serve your coffee using Bunn advanced coffee makers and brewing equipment.
Re-heat for serving any coffee with a temperature below 175 ° F
Serve coffee using beans or ground coffee past the freshness date.
Let coffee "bake" on a serving station or brewer. Twenty to 30 minutes is the maximum time allowable for an open pot to deliver a perfect cup of coffee.
Serve coffee in pots or decanters that haven't been properly cleaned, since acids and other organic materials can taint even the best brewed coffee
Ideal coffee holding temperature:
175 ºF to 185 ºF (80 ºC to 85 ºC)
Most all the volatile aromatics in coffee
have boiling points well below that of water and continue to evaporate from the
surface until pressure in the serving container reaches equilibrium. A closed
container can slow the process of evaporation.
Ideal coffee serving temperature:
155 ºF to 175 ºF (70 ºC to 80 ºC)
Many of the volatile aromatics in coffee
have boiling points above 150 ºF (65 ºC). They simply are not perceived when
coffee is served at lower temperatures.
Ideal holding time:
20 minutes in an open
top decanter / 60 minutes in a closed container.
